Project Description

Heralded as one of the most magnificent buildings in the country Ely Cathedral is a house of prayer, a unique educational resource, the Ely Diocese Mother Church. Its most notable feature is the central octagonal tower, with lantern above, which provides a unique internal space and, along with the West Tower, dominates the surrounding landscape. Ely Cathedral is a major tourist destination, receiving around 250,000 visitors per year, and sustains a daily pattern of morning and evening services.

As a Cathedral we traditionally had black plastic chairs which we put out behind our smart wooden chairs for large services or concerts, and for use on the stage where the wooden chairs were too wide and too heavy. Following fires in at least two Cathedrals in recent years, we have been advised not to store back plastic chairs in the Cathedral, so we decided to replace them with chairs from Rosehill which are smart, simple to store and easy to put out.

We found what we were looking for in the Rosehill “Fold, Stack & Store” brochure and the 3000 series folding chair fitted our requirements perfectly. We found Rosehill very easy to deal with. Quotes and samples were handled efficiently and we are now the proud owners of 450 folding chairs. Feedback to date from those using the chairs is that people are finding them very comfortable, they certainly look good.
